Traditional Martial Arts For Modern Self-Defence

History - Club

The chief instructors, Sensei Glen Pitcher and Sensei Chris Luttrell, began their martial arts careers in various other styles first. They trained in Judo, Karate, Kung Fu, Ninjitsu and Aiki Jujitsu. In 1998 Glen and Chris formed Musubi Dojo in Oshawa. Over time, the club moved to Courtice, then Ajax and now back to Oshawa. We've been a part of Durham Region for 20 plus years.

Over the years, members of Musubi Dojo had the opportunity to train with other jujutsu clubs. This cross-training allowed members to acquire new skills and techniques. During this journey, Chokushin jujutsu was intruduced to the club. Musubi members also participated in and hosted many seminars with a variety of other styles. Through all this exposure to other techniques, our style expanded to become Goshinkan Chokushin Aiki-Jujutsu.

Over our 25-plus year history, we have had many students graduate to black belt. We are very proud of all our students and look forward to many more of them reaching their black belt.

Fundamentally, our style of jujutsu can be broken down into four categories:

Classes are divided equally between the four categories. The focus of our club/style is self defence.
